Job Title: Large Industrial Forklift Operator
Job Summary
The Large Industrial Forklift Operator is responsible for safely operating heavy-duty forklifts and other material-handling equipment to move, load, unload, stack, and organize large or heavy materials within warehouses, manufacturing plants, lumber yards, shipping facilities, or outdoor industrial environments. This role requires strong attention to safety procedures, equipment inspection, and efficient material movement to support production and shipping operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operate large industrial forklifts and heavy material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
Load and unload trucks, trailers, railcars, and storage areas.
Move oversized, heavy, or bulk materials to designated locations.
Stack, organize, and secure materials in storage areas or yards.
Inspect forklifts before and after shifts to ensure safe operating condition.
Report mechanical issues, maintenance needs, or safety hazards to supervisors.
Follow all workplace safety policies and OSHA regulations.
Assist with inventory control, product staging, and order preparation.
Maintain clean and organized work areas.
Communicate with supervisors, warehouse staff, and truck drivers to coordinate material movement.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
Experience operating large industrial forklifts (e.g., 10,000 lb capacity).
Knowledge of warehouse or industrial yard operations.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Strong attention to safety and detail.
Preferred Qualifications
1–3 years experience operating heavy forklifts in industrial environments.
Experience handling oversized materials such lumber
Basic mechanical knowledge for equipment inspections.
Experience working in outdoor industrial yards.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when needed.
Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment.
Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
Good hand-eye coordination and depth perception.
Work Environment
Industrial warehouses, manufacturing plants, or outdoor material yards.
Exposure to heavy machinery, moving equipment, and industrial noise.
May require overtime, shift work, or weekend work depending on operations
