Somerset Fire Alarm and Security is a local family-owned fire alarm and security company seeking a full-time service technician with at least 2-3 years of related experience. While also providing emergency services to end users, building owners, property management companies, general contractors, and electrical contractors.

Our team of in-house designers, NICET-certified technicians, and owners have lived and worked in our community and the security and fire alarm industry for the past 30 years.

About the role

A Security Systems Technician is responsible for performing skilled technical work in the installation, maintenance, repair, modification, and testing of access control, closed circuit television (CCTV) and security systems hardware and software. Along with establishing a good working relationship with our customers.

Specific Duties

  • Installing, maintaining, repairing, and testing data cable and wiring, electronic door locks, access card readers, door position switches, request to exit detectors, CCTV cameras, and other security systems related hardware.
  • Testing security systems hardware and correcting malfunctions to restore the performance of the equipment to established standards.
  • Working with data, alarm, and monitoring circuits.
  • Installing and relocating security systems equipment.
  • Conducting research and analyzing test measurements.
  • Evaluation of present systems and developing recommendations for system expansion, modification, and replacement.

Other Responsibilities and Duties

  • Operates power tools and uses hand tools to install and repair electronic equipment.
  • Performs physical inventories of security systems equipment.
  • Distinguishes colors to identify color-coded cable, wiring, and electronic components that use standard industry color codes.
  • Cleans security systems equipment and work areas.
  • Meets scheduling and attendance requirements.
  • Ability to work nights as needed.

Qualifications

  • 2 Year minimum experience installing/servicing security and/or camera systems.
  • Valid Driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass criminal background check and drug screening
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • High enthusiasm, fun, and positive attitude
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Strong customer service skills
