Summary
We are seeking a Stable Worker to join our team at the Somerset County Park Commission. This position plays a vital role in maintaining our riding stable and caring for the animals. The ideal candidate will contribute to our mission of providing outstanding recreational opportunities while ensuring the well-being of our animals.
Responsibilities
- Care for and maintain the health and well-being of stable animals.
- Perform daily feeding, grooming, and exercise routines for horses.
- Maintain cleanliness of stables and surrounding areas to ensure a safe environment.
- Assist with maintenance of tack, cleaning stalls, and preparing horses and ponies for riding lessons.
- Utilize hand tools and power tools for stable maintenance tasks.
- Irrigate pastures as needed to support animal grazing.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations at the stable.
Requirements
- Experience in animal handling and care is essential.
- Ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain cleanliness standards.
- Train new and young horses.
- Able to perform physical tasks under varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Flexibility in adjusting work schedule to accommodate evenings and weekends if necessary.
