Somatic Psychotherapy Group, LLC (SPG) is looking to hire a Psychotherapist/Social Worker to join our boutique group practice in Northampton, MA. We provide psychotherapy to adults individually and as couples in-person at our office located on Main Street and via video Teletherapy. Somatic psychotherapy is a holistic approach to integrating thoughts and emotions with embodied experience. Our experiential orientation aims to increase awareness beyond intellectual insight. Our team members develop clinical and practice management skills through supervision and peer support. As we expand, we aim to foster a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming workplace that expands the space we hold for our clients.

Candidates must have an MSW/LCSW-eligible to provide psychotherapy under the supervision of an LICSW, or be fully-licensed as an LICSW. We prefer applicants who have had training and/or an experience with an experiential/somatic-oriented approach (Gestalt Therapy, IFS, Hakomi, EFT, or comparable approach), but that is not a requirement.

Interest in learning and applying Gestalt Therapy principles through supervision and readings is an important requirement given the practice orientation. Gestalt Therapy is a relational-process approach to exploring in the present, how a person orients and makes sense of themselves and others within a social environment. This process illuminates how suffering or symptoms are expressions of unsatisfying ways of meeting difficult situations. We bring our presence to meet theirs to confront the situation, access additional support, and discover new and creative ways they can navigate their lives. Our aim is not to change people, it is to develop clearer awareness of the already-always occurring change process which is generative and healing in itself.

Employees receive weekly individual and group supervision with a Certified Gestalt Therapist/Certified EFT Couples Therapist LICSW, complete clinical hours toward licensure, have access to office space and become part of a supportive team & community.

Compensation is competitive fee-for-service with a therapist commitment to develop a caseload of 20 weekly appointments.
