Position Description: The Laboratory Technician will support the microbiology laboratory operations for food safety and potency testing of dietary supplements and raw material ingredients. The Laboratory technician will work closely with the microbiology team to ensure micro lab operations are complying and meeting the demands and requirements of the laboratory. 

Essential responsibilities:

  • Prepare microbiological media and reagents in accordance with SOPs and quality requirements. 
  • Perform routine laboratory maintenance, including dishwashing, cleaning, and equipment organization. 
  • Maintain laboratory stock by monitoring inventory and replenishing supplies. 
  • Organize, scan, and maintain laboratory documentation in compliance with internal and regulatory standards. 
  • Support accurate record-keeping and uphold required standards for documentation, good housekeeping, cGMP, health and safety, and timekeeping. 
  • Follow and comply with the GMP compliance rulebook, code of conduct, quality manual, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and all applicable company policies. 
  • Assist laboratory staff with routine tasks as needed to ensure smooth and efficient operations. 
  • Perform testing of dietary supplements raw material and finished products, in accordance with established methodologies. 

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Adhere strictly to company policies and procedures.
  • Assisting in miscellaneous document review and storage requests and procedures as needed.
  • Collecting retained product / sample for quality review.
  • Electronic and physical document storage procedures.
  •  

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred: Actively pursuing a degree in a related scientific field (e.g., Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Life Sciences). 

 

Competencies/skill Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of GMPs and experience with nutraceuticals
  • Competency in basic computer programs and must be able to use Microsoft applications.
  • Must demonstrate exceptional written and communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions / directions.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to details.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete assigned tasks effectively and efficiently.
  • Able to make decisions based on company guidelines.  Exceptional organizational, multi-tasking and time-management skills are required.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment and maintain effectiveness during times of major changes in responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate integrity and willingness to take personal responsibility for performance.
  • Knowledge of Dietary Supplement GMPs preferred.
  • Experience in dietary supplement industry preferred.
  • Auditing experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience enforcing SOP and product specifications preferred.
  • Proficiency with all MS Office Suite programs – excel experience required. 
  • Strong mathematics skills required.   
  • English proficiency required.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use of hands and fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; converse and listen; taste or smell.
  • The employee must exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
