SOMA Fitness is expanding our class schedule, and we are looking for energetic, knowledgeable, and motivating instructors to join our team in Mountain Top, Pennsylvania.
We are currently seeking certified instructors for:
• SilverSneakers and active-aging fitness
• Indoor cycling and spin
• Strength and conditioning
• Pilates
• Yoga
• TRX and suspension training
• Functional fitness
• Mobility, stretching, and recovery classes
• Other specialty group fitness formats
SOMA Fitness is a wellness club founded by a physician and dietitian, bringing strength and conditioning, diverse class programming, on-site nutrition guidance, and access to recovery professionals together under one roof.
Our environment is premium yet community-driven and designed to help every member train smarter and build long-term health. Team members collaborate across training, nutrition, and recovery to provide comprehensive, evidence-based wellness support in one convenient location.
SOMA instructors are responsible for leading safe, engaging, and inclusive group fitness classes for members of varying ages, abilities, and experience levels.
Responsibilities include:
• Planning and leading high-quality group fitness classes
• Coaching members on proper form, technique, and safe movement
• Providing appropriate modifications and progressions
• Creating a welcoming, motivating, and non-intimidating class environment
• Offering goal-oriented guidance while remaining within the instructor’s scope of practice
• Arriving on time and preparing the studio or class area before participants arrive
• Ensuring equipment is clean, safe, organized, and properly stored
• Welcoming new participants and answering class-related questions
• Communicating equipment concerns, member feedback, and class needs to management
• Supporting special events, workshops, and member-engagement activities as needed
• Following all SOMA safety, emergency, and incident-reporting procedures
All instructors must hold a current, recognized certification appropriate to the class format they teach.
Qualified candidates should also have:
• Demonstrated group exercise and fitness-instruction skills
• Current CPR certification, or willingness to complete it
• Knowledge of safe exercise technique and evidence-based training principles
• The ability to coach participants with different fitness levels and physical abilities
• Strong communication, leadership, and customer-service skills
• The ability to provide clear demonstrations, modifications, and corrections
• A dependable, professional, and positive attitude
• A commitment to creating an inclusive and respectful environment
• An interest in collaborating with nutrition and recovery professionals to support whole-person wellness
Previous experience teaching in a gym, studio, wellness club, or community fitness setting is preferred. Additional specialty certifications, multiple class-format certifications, and experience working with older adults are highly valued.
These are part-time, class-based positions with opportunities to teach morning, daytime, evening, and weekend classes.
Compensation is paid per class and is based on the instructor’s certifications, experience, specialty training, and class format.
We do cover professional liability insurance at SOMA.
