Job Summary:
The Onboarding Specialist is responsible for coordinating and executing the onboarding process for new hires within the hospital. This role ensures a smooth, compliant, and engaging transition for employees by managing pre-employment requirements, orientation programs, and collaboration with HR, department leaders, and clinical teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate end-to-end onboarding for new hires, including clinicians, administrative staff, and support personnel
- Facilitate new employee orientation sessions, ensuring alignment with hospital policies, culture, and patient care standards
- Manage pre-employment processes such as background checks, credentialing, drug screenings, and immunization verification
- Ensure all onboarding activities comply with regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission, HIPAA)
- Serve as the primary point of contact for new hires, answering questions and providing guidance throughout the onboarding process
- Partner with HR, nursing leadership, medical staff offices, and department managers to ensure readiness for new employees
- Track onboarding progress and maintain accurate employee records in HRIS systems
- Coordinate training schedules, including mandatory compliance and safety training
- Identify opportunities to improve onboarding workflows and enhance the employee experience
- Prepare onboarding reports and metrics (e.g., time-to-start, completion rates)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred
- 2–4 years of experience in onboarding, HR coordination, or healthcare administration
- Experience working in a hospital or clinical setting strongly preferred
- Knowledge of healthcare compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA, credentialing standards)
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
