Job Summary
The KidZone Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation and planning of KidZone and coordinating all after-hours family events for Solutions for Change participants. This part-time position (15–18 hours per week) ensures that KidZone programming and family events are safe, enriching, and aligned with the organization’s mission of transformation through community and accountability.
The Coordinator works closely with the Program Director, Volunteer Coordinator, and Empowerment Coaches to develop meaningful activities for children and families, create lesson plans, manage volunteers, and deliver engaging evening and weekend events that strengthen family connection and community involvement.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee KidZone operations, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for children.
- Develop weekly lesson plans and activities that support emotional, social, and educational growth.
- Provide staff and volunteers with structured guidance and materials to implement activities successfully.
- Maintain attendance records, supply inventory, and ensure proper supervision ratios.
- Coordinate with Empowerment Coaches to align KidZone programming with family goals and progress.
- Help staff all after-hours family events, including monthly family nights, volunteer-led activities, and seasonal or holiday celebrations.
- Actively engage families during events to foster connection, joy, and a sense of community.
- Communicate event details clearly to participants and staff.
- Track sign-ups, attendance, event success, and resource use for ongoing improvement.
- Maintain KidZone schedules, event calendars, and supply budgets.
- Ensure compliance with safety, emergency, and program policies.
- Collaborate with the Program Department to align KidZone and event activities with overall program goals.
- Participate in staff meetings and cross-department collaborations as needed.
Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in Child Development, Recreation, Education, or related field preferred or currently enrolled in school for the above fields; or a minimum of 2 years’ experience planning and coordinating children’s programs or events.
- Experience working with vulnerable families, trauma-informed care, or youth programming preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to lead volunteers and manage group activities effectively.
- Flexible, reliable, and able to work evenings and weekends.
- Compassionate understanding of homelessness, poverty, and recovery.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening (including marijuana) and background check.
- Valid California driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire.
