Design Engineer
Solution Services is seeking a mechanical engineer with 3 - 5 yrs experience to design and draft industrial construction projects. The candidate will be expected to self-start and complete projects independently. Projects entail structural design of equipment supports, personnel platforms, lifting/rigging equipment, construction labor estimates, pipe sizing, pipe routing, equipment layout, and other work. Drafting and structural detailing will be done with CAD. Fast-paced environment with large exposure to different industrial environments.
Responsibilities and Duties
Engineering calculations
- Code lookups for compliance
- Stress analysis of joints and beams
- Seismic analysis
- Concrete reinforcement
- Pipe sizing
- Thermal expansion loads
2D/3D Modeling
- Design concepts for customer review
- P&ID editing
- Structural detailing and shop drawings
- Pipeline isometrics
- Check for interferences
- Drawing/Project Template setup
Project Engineering
- Provide on-site support for outage projects and field installs
- Procurement and scheduling
- Direct project personnel to hit schedule milestones
- Manage customer request and expectations
Design Reviews
- Generate presentations
- Conduct customer design reviews
- Record and resolve customer comments and concerns
- Present alternative designs and ideas
- Review drawings for construction
Field Engineering
- 3D Scanning
- Field measurements
- Hand draw pipeline isometrics and equipment layouts
- Capture customer needs and identify safety concerns
Qualifications and Skills
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
3 years engineering experience required;
AutoCAD, Revit or Solidworks experience preferred; 3D CAD experience required
