Solution Prep is a high-quality and long-running College Admissions and SAT/ACT Prep service, working with students and families across Central Jersey, both at high schools and in our centers in Wall Twp, East Brunswick, Little Silver, and Toms River.
Job Overview:
We’re seeking a dynamic and dedicated Associate Director of College Counseling to join our college advising team and support students in achieving their higher education goals. This year-round role involves guiding students through the college application process, helping them develop and shape their personal stories, and fostering an environment that promotes academic and personal growth. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for student success, and the ability to manage projects on deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Coaching students through brainstorming, outlining, drafting, and revising college application essays
- Supporting students with strategy and execution across application platforms
- Helping students manage their projects by building clear timelines to meet deadlines
- Communicating with families by phone, email, and text to support progress
- Supporting year-round scheduling of high school students
- Assisting with planning and logistics for group college visits, events, and workshops
- Contributing to resource-building projects that improve our admission offerings
The ideal candidate:
- Is an excellent writer and editor, able to encourage and coach students to stronger writing without overediting their voice
- Is upbeat, time- and detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment
- Has strong organizational skills and a great memory for names, dates, and faces
- Can travel regularly to work in all Solution Prep centers (Wall Twp, East Brunswick, Little Silver, and Toms River)
- Is excited to grow in the college admissions field and take on a meaningful, long-term role
Preferred (not required):
- Undergraduate and/or graduate experience at a selective college or university
- Experience working in a college admissions office, writing center/writing lab, or similar academic support setting (including work study roles)
- Experience working in a high school college guidance office
- Experience supporting students with college applications and/or essay development
Timing:
Training begins in mid-May and student appointments begin in mid-June. We work with students when they’re out of school, which requires evening, weekend, and summer availability. Summer schedule is Sunday–Thursday, 12-8pm; fall schedule is Saturday 10am-6pm, Sunday 11am-9pm, and three weekdays, 1:30-9:30pm; winter and spring schedules are primarily Monday–Friday, 9am-5pm, with occasional evening/weekend adjustments.
