What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Electrical Design Engineer position at SoloPoint Solutions?
Qualifications:
- BSEE degree preferred
- 5 years of experience as Electrical Project Design Engineer
- 5 years of electrical project experience including design, troubleshooting, and commissioning
- PLC Ladder Logic programming experience (Siemens and Rockwell preferred, 2 years developing original programs not just maintenance)
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems with circuit breakers, transformers, motor starters, contactors, relays, AC/DC inverters, braking resistors
- Experience with overhead cranes, hoists, or material handling equipment
- Ability to read and design single line diagrams, schematics, panel layouts, interconnect, and conduit drawings
- Strong understanding of electrical codes and ability to calculate wire sizes, drive sizes, braking resistors, transformers for systems up to 800V DC and 4160V AC
- Excellent customer relations attitude with solution-oriented mindset
- Willingness to travel 10-15% domestic and international
Responsibilities:
- Function as lead electrical/software engineer at site/office and provide technical supervision to other electrical engineers, technicians, and craft workers
- Troubleshoot and update/modify computer programs such as PLC code and HMI programs that automate specific business processes
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and solve problems by working with engineers, service technicians, and cross-functional teams
- Lead Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) with customers, going through procedures step-by-step to prove equipment works as intended
- Calculate wire sizes, drive sizes, braking resistors, transformers, contactors, and overload protection using appropriate electrical codes and standards
