The City of Solon is accepting lateral applications for the position of Patrol Officer for the Solon Police Department. Only the first 50 applications submitted will be accepted. The applications will be graded against a scoring matrix provided by Clancy & Associates, and the top 20 candidates will participate in a panel interview on either August 13th or 14th 2026 to finalize a Civil Service list.Qualifications:At least two full‑time years of law enforcement service.Current full‑time police officer with OPOTA certification or separation from active service no longer than one year.High school diploma or GED.Valid driving privileges.Good moral character with no history of felony or misdemeanor offenses.Excellent work ethic and service‑oriented attitude.Successful completion of background investigation, truth analysis, and full psychological exams.The starting salary for a new hire with the Solon Police Department is $86,907.11. Upon successful completion of the Field Training Program, the salary range is $90,079.69 to $98,923.90, depending on years of prior service according to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement. City benefits include medical, prescription, dental, and vision, as well as membership in the Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund, life insurance, vacation, sick leave accruals, and select paid holidays.Interested candidates must submit an application online by visiting the City of Solon website at .
