Staff Accountant
Location: Philadelphia, PA (Hybrid – generally 1 day/week onsite)
A rapidly growing life sciences organization is seeking a Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations as the company advances toward its next phase of growth and commercialization.
Candidates with biotech/pharmaceutical experience are strongly preferred, though public accountants with significant biotech or life sciences client exposure will also be considered.
Responsibilities
Manage accounts payable activities, including vendor onboarding, invoice processing, and payment administration
Support purchase order workflows and ensure accurate coding and approvals
Perform bank reconciliations and assist with month-end close activities
Prepare and post journal entries and account reconciliations
Support SOX compliance and internal control processes
Assist with financial reporting and accounting operations projects
Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve vendor, payment, and accounting inquiries
Contribute to process improvements and help establish scalable accounting procedures as the organization grows
Provide support for future payroll and related accounting functions
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred
Experience within biotech, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or healthcare organizations strongly preferred
Alternatively, candidates from public accounting with biotech/pharma client experience are highly encouraged to apply
Experience with NetSuite preferred; Oracle, SAP, or similar ERP systems also considered
Strong understanding of accounts payable, reconciliations, and month-end accounting processes
Familiarity with SOX controls and corporate accounting environments
Detail-oriented with excellent follow-through and organizational skills
Strong communication skills and willingness to work cross-functionally
Hands-on mindset with the ability to thrive in a growing organization
Additional Details
Employment type: Direct hire
Compensation: $75,000–$100,000 Bonus Equity
The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on the education, experience, location and skill set of the individual selected for this position.
