Plant Controller
Location: Newark, DE (Hybrid – 4 days onsite)
Compensation: Up to $150,000 base bonus
Overview
A growing organization is seeking a Plant Controller to oversee plant-level financial reporting, cost accounting, and operational finance support. This role partners closely with plant leadership, operations, and corporate accounting to drive cost visibility, strengthen controls, and support informed decision-making across the manufacturing or service environment.
This is a hands-on leadership role with responsibility for financial accuracy, process improvement, and team development at the plant level.
Key Responsibilities
- Own plant-level cost accounting, including standard costing, cost allocations, and monthly close activities
- Develop and maintain plant accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Analyze manufacturing and operational costs, labor efficiency, overhead absorption, and variances
- Review and validate plant-related COGS, including labor, materials, overhead, and equipment costs
- Partner with plant operations and procurement to monitor cost trends, usage, and process efficiency
- Lead and oversee physical counts, cycle counts, and reconciliation of plant-related variances
- Prepare monthly and quarterly plant financial reporting, KPIs, and variance analysis for management
- Support ERP system enhancements related to cost accounting and plant financial modules
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and corporate accounting standards
- Supervise, mentor, and develop plant accounting and cost accounting staff
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- CPA or CMA strongly preferred
- 7 years of progressive experience in plant, cost, or manufacturing accounting
- Experience supporting plant or multi-location operations strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, standard costing, and cost variance analysis
- Advanced Excel skills; ERP experience required
- Proven leadership skills and ability to partner effectively with plant and operations leadership
Additional Details
- Hybrid work schedule: 4 days onsite, 1 day remote
- Approximately 25% domestic travel, including occasional overnight stays
- Competitive compensation up to $150K base plus bonus and benefits
The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on the education, experience, location and skill set of the individual selected for this position.
