Role Overview

The Regional Controller is a hands‐on financial leader responsible for all accounting operations across a defined group of Solidaire operating companies. This role owns month‐end close, reconciliations, reporting, controls, and financial accuracy in an environment where close is still highly manual due to legacy ERPs. As partners migrate to BuildOps and Sage Intacct, the Regional Controller implements new accounting methods, including accrual‐based accounting and percentage‐of‐cost‐completion, and reduces manual journal entry volume.

This role also serves as a strategic business partner to Operations, HR, and entity leadership, translating financial data into actionable insights that improve margin performance, strengthen controls, and support scalable growth across the platform.

For the first 3- 6 months Owns month-end close, reconciliations, reporting and controls amid highly manual ERP processes, while company ERP is implemented.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Accounting Operations

  • Own month‐end close, reconciliations, schedules, and financial reporting for assigned entities (Group A or Group B).
  • Ensure GAAP compliance, strong internal controls, and accurate branch‐level financials.
  • Oversee AP, AR, payroll review, job costing, revenue recognition, and audit support.
  • Implement new accounting methods (accrual‐based, %‐of‐cost‐completion) as ERPs evolve.
  • Reduce manual journal entry volume as BuildOps and Sage Intacct roll out.

Business Partnership & Decision Support

  • Partner with regional and branch leaders to drive margin improvement, labor efficiency, pricing discipline, and cost management.
  • Provide clear, data‐driven insights that support operational decision‐making.
  • Strengthen financial fluency and accountability across entity leadership teams.

Risk Management & Controls

  • Identify financial, operational, and compliance risks early; implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure consistent controls and COA treatment across entities.
  • Partner with HR and Operations on workforce‐related risks (overtime, misclassification, productivity).

Integration & Process Improvement

  • Support integration of newly acquired entities, including those arriving with no finance function.
  • Partner with the Finance Integration Leader on COA mapping, ERP migration, and banking transitions.
  • Stand up interim centralized coverage for GAR‐scale acquisitions until local staffing is justified.
  • Standardize workflows and implement best practices to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Directly oversee the Sr. Staff Accountant supporting assigned entities.
  • Provide coaching, development, and escalation support to field‐embedded accounting resources.
  • Model Solidaire’s values and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including multi‐site or multi‐entity operations.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with business leaders and translate financial data into operational insights.
  • Experience identifying and mitigating financial or operational risks.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence non‐financial leaders.

Preferred

  • CPA or CMA certification.
  • Experience in commercial services, HVAC, construction, or field‐based industries.
  • Experience in private equity‐backed or high‐growth environments.
  • Experience supporting integrations or standardizing processes across acquired entities.
