Job Title: Estimator – Division 10 Specialties
Location: Charleston, SC or Columbia, SC or Charlotte, NC or Savannah, GA
Position Summary
A growing commercial construction firm is seeking a skilled Estimator specializing in Division 10 (Specialties) to support preconstruction and bidding efforts. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a wide range of specialty building products, ensuring scope completeness and alignment with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for Division 10 scopes, including but not limited to toilet partitions, accessories, lockers, operable partitions, fire protection specialties, and visual display boards
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop accurate scopes of work
- Solicit, review, and level vendor and subcontractor pricing
- Identify scope gaps, overlaps, and potential risks, and develop clarifications and exclusions
- Coordinate with general contractors, project managers, and suppliers during the bid process
- Assist in value engineering efforts to provide cost-saving alternatives
- Maintain organized estimate files and update cost databases
- Support project handoff to operations upon award
Qualifications
- 2 years of estimating experience in construction, preferably with exposure to Division 10 or interior specialties
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer applications
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred (but not required)
- Experience with Division 10 product lines and vendors
- Familiarity with estimating/takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, Planswift, On-Screen Takeoff)
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field
