This full-time, onsite contract position is designed for an enthusiastic educator ready to work with 20-23 students who have varying visual needs. Key Qualifications:
- Valid and active North Carolina Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) license/certification required
- Experience working with visually impaired students preferred
- Ability to tailor instruction for learners with diverse needs and abilities
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with staff, students, and families
- Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in adaptive technologies and accessible materials
- Comfortable committing to a 37.5-hour week on campus
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
- Deliver direct instruction in expanded core curriculum areas, including Braille, assistive technology, and orientation/mobility
- Consult with classroom teachers and specialists to ensure accessible learning environments
- Provide ongoing assessment and documentation of student progress
- Advocate for student needs within multidisciplinary IEP teams
- Support families in understanding resources and reinforcing learning strategies at home
