Desired Qualifications/Experience
- Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Experience in K-12 educational environments preferred
- Strong knowledge of Braille and assistive technology
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Flexibility in adapting materials and teaching methods to meet diverse student needs
- Deliver direct instruction to visually impaired students in both individualized and group settings
- Assess students’ needs and adapt curriculum using specialized tools and resources
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, orientation and mobility specialists, and other support professionals
- Consult regularly with families to ensure continuity between home and school support
- Monitor progress, attend IEP meetings, and maintain thorough documentation as required
- Advocate for student access to materials, technology, and equitable learning opportunities
