Desired Qualifications/Experience

• Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
• Experience in K-12 educational environments preferred
• Strong knowledge of Braille and assistive technology
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Flexibility in adapting materials and teaching methods to meet diverse student needs
  
  

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct instruction to visually impaired students in both individualized and group settings
• Assess students’ needs and adapt curriculum using specialized tools and resources
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, orientation and mobility specialists, and other support professionals
• Consult regularly with families to ensure continuity between home and school support
• Monitor progress, attend IEP meetings, and maintain thorough documentation as required
• Advocate for student access to materials, technology, and equitable learning opportunities
