Qualifications/Experience Sought

• Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairment or endorsement as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Previous experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments in a school setting
• Extensive knowledge of IEP development and implementation for visually impaired students
• Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Current understanding of Braille instruction, assistive technologies, and adaptive devices
• Organization and flexibility to adapt to diverse student needs
  
  

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver specialized instructional support tailored to K-12 students with visual impairments, based on individual education programs
• Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute critical input for IEP meetings
• Collaborate with general and special education staff to adapt curriculum, tools, and environments
• Empower students with orientation and mobility techniques, Braille literacy, and technology training
• Maintain clear and ongoing communication with families and staff to foster student success
• Manage documentation of student progress and ongoing program compliance
