This opportunity seeks a Special Education teacher certified in Hearing Impairment (HI) to serve students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in an in-person school setting located in Maricopa, AZ. This is a contract position designed to support specialized educational needs within the school community.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, utilizing individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other specialists to create accessible learning environments
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
- Facilitate communication between students, families, and staff to promote student success
- Support the development of social and communication skills through specialized teaching methods
Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Special Education teacher with an endorsement or certification in Hearing Impairment (HI)
- Experience working with students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing preferred
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture, assistive technology, and communication methodologies such as sign language or auditory-verbal techniques
- Commitment to inclusive, student-centered educational approaches
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
