A specialized opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) to support students in Baltimore, MD. This contract position provides the chance to make a meaningful impact by delivering tailored educational experiences that address the unique needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing learners.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized instructional plans for students with hearing impairments.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech therapists, and audiologists to support students academic and social development.
  • Utilize assistive technologies and communication strategies to enhance learning.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students, families, and the educational team.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment that promotes effective communication and engagement.
  • Maintain compliance with educational policies and IDEA regulations related to students with hearing impairments.

Qualifications

  • Certification or licensure in Special Education with a focus on Deaf/Hard of Hearing education.
  • Proven experience teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in a school setting.
  • Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods preferred.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt instructional methods to diverse student needs.
