Key Qualifications
- Certified and licensed as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or have appropriate special education credentials for visual impairments
- Demonstrated experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments in school settings
- Ability to implement specialized instructional strategies and adapt curriculum to meet IEP goals
- Strong collaboration skills, with experience partnering alongside multidisciplinary educational teams and families
- Deep commitment to fostering student growth, self-advocacy, and inclusion
- Deliver direct instruction and educational support to students with visual impairments according to their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Assess student skills and needs; plan targeted interventions and adaptations to promote academic progress and independence
- Support students’ use of assistive technology, braille, and orientation and mobility skills as needed
- Consult regularly with teachers and staff to design inclusive classroom environments and accessible materials
- Communicate observations, progress, and strategies to families and IEP teams
