Responsibilities Include
- Managing caseloads of up to 22 students, primarily in self-contained classrooms
- Delivering individualized instruction in resource room or special education settings
- Collaborating with school staff and families to support student progress
- Adhering to Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and IDEA federal regulations
- Utilizing knowledge of emotional impairment (EI), cognitive impairment (CI), and learning disabilities (LD) to tailor educational approaches for diverse learners
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with a Learning Disabilities endorsement
- Endorsements in Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitively Impaired (CI), or Early Childhood Special Education (MDE endorsement ZA) highly desired
- Demonstrated understanding of the unique challenges facing urban students and appropriate resource strategies
- Familiarity with MARSE standards and federal IDEA special education regulations
- Ability to effectively manage and engage a full caseload within a full-time schedule of approximately 35 hours per week
