Key Qualifications
- Current and valid Special Education licensure as verified through the Alabama certification portal
- Previous experience teaching or supporting elementary students in a Special Education setting (inclusion, self-contained, or behavior units ideal)
- Strong commitment to student growth, inclusion, and personalized instruction
- Excellent classroom management, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Reliable, positive, and flexible approach to meeting the needs of students and collaborating with colleagues
- Plan and deliver specialized instruction tailored to the needs of elementary students with disabilities in one of three classroom environments: inclusion, self-contained, or behavior unit
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in partnership with families and support staff
- Track and report student progress; participate in regular IEP meetings and maintain thorough documentation
- Use evidence-based strategies to support academic and behavioral goals
- Foster a safe, encouraging, and productive classroom atmosphere
- Team up with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to ensure optimal student outcomes
