A full-time opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support an elementary-aged student in an educational setting located in Chatham County, North Carolina. This contract position focuses on providing high-quality American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation services within a school environment, fostering effective communication and inclusivity for students with hearing impairments.

Responsibilities

• Deliver clear and accurate ASL interpretation for an elementary-aged student during classroom instruction and school activities
• Facilitate communication between the student, educators, and peers to promote an inclusive learning atmosphere
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure accessibility of educational materials
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions
• Participate in team meetings and professional development as needed
  
  

Qualifications

• Proficiency in American Sign Language interpreted at a professional level
• Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in school settings preferred
• Ability to work full-time with consistent availability
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with educators and families
