Step into a meaningful role supporting a middle school student with severe autism and high needs as a dedicated full-time Social Worker. This contract position begins August 4, 2026, and offers both flexibility and the chance to make a lasting difference. Work 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with the added convenience of one day remote each week. You'll have the opportunity to provide direct 1:1 support while also guiding an Educational Assistant in best practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Social Worker license in New Mexico, or eligible for licensure
- Experience in a school setting, ideally with students with disabilities or special education needs
- Background working with severe autism, behavioral challenges, or high-needs populations
- Understanding of healthcare support within school environments
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and guide support staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct 1:1 social, emotional, and behavioral support to a middle school student with severe autism
- Develop and implement individualized strategies to enhance student engagement and success
- Collaborate closely with teachers, support staff, and families to ensure comprehensive support
- Offer ongoing guidance and mentorship to the Educational Assistant assigned to the student
- Monitor progress, document interventions, and adjust plans as needed
