School RN in Arvada, CO

A certified Registered Nurse (RN) with school nursing experience is needed to provide specialized one-on-one care for a first-grade student at an elementary school in Arvada, CO. This contract position spans the current school year with potential renewals for extended and next school years based on performance and fit. The role involves delivering direct nursing services within a school setting, supporting the students unique medical needs, and facilitating a safe, healthy learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide suctioning care primarily in the mouth as needed; tracheostomy suctioning rarely required except under specific conditions.
• Administer positioning adjustments every two hours utilizing multiple positioning options to ensure comfort and safety.
• Perform diaper changes as needed, approximately four times daily.
• Manage tube feeding during breakfast and lunch with monitoring and support, allowing the student to engage in other activities during feeding time.
• Administer water intake multiple times a day using a bolus syringe method in any position the student is in.
• Maintain accurate documentation of nursing care and student health status.
• Collaborate closely with school staff and healthcare teams to monitor and respond to the students health needs.
  
  

Qualifications And Experience

• Active RN license in the state of Colorado.
• Previous experience in school nursing or pediatric nursing preferred.
• Ability to handle suctioning procedures and trach care.
• Competency in tube feeding and related medical interventions.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
