This contract position provides the chance to make a tangible difference in a student's life, working 1:1 with a high-functioning individual who requires ventilator support. With a 30-hour workweek and Wednesdays off, you’ll strike the perfect balance between professional commitment and personal time.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Current RN or LPN license in good standing
- Previous experience in a school, pediatric, or healthcare setting preferred
- Ventilator care experience required for LPN candidates
- Confidence providing daily care for a student with paralysis while engaging with a cognitively high-functioning adolescent
- Strong communication skills to liaise between school staff, family, and medical professionals
- Willingness and ability to accompany the student on daily bus rides to and from school
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver attentive, compassionate care to one high school student throughout the school day
- Monitor and manage ventilator needs and other health-related requirements
- Collaborate with educators, family, and healthcare providers to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment
- Document daily care and promptly respond to any changes in the student’s medical status
- Support the student’s daily activities, both inside and outside the classroom, contributing to their personal growth and school experience
