Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1 year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Bring your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to a dynamic educational setting supporting students in grades K-8. This contract opportunity offers you the chance to work on-site at one of several school locations in the West Palm Beach area, ensuring vital communication access for Deaf and Hard of Hearing learners. You’ll have the ability to impact students’ educational journeys while collaborating closely with teachers and educational staff.
Desired Qualifications:
- Achieved Level 3 or above on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA 3.6-3.9, or higher), or hold certification from the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) or Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) – CI/CT, CSC, NIC, NIC-A, or NIC-M.
- Proven experience providing sign language interpretation in educational settings, preferably with students in K-8.
- Comfortable supporting a DHH classroom independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to demonstrate interpreting skills in a live sample (details provided during hiring process).
- Must complete fingerprinting requirements or verify current clearance status via the AHCA Clearinghouse.
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver sign language interpretation for instructional content, classroom discussions, and school activities.
- Adapt communication style to support a range of student needs and settings.
- Foster an inclusive learning environment and collaborate with staff to ensure student success.
- Participate in team meetings or trainings as needed for continued professional development.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all interpreting assignments.
Contract engagement begins August 10, 2026, and runs through May 27, 2027. Assignments are full-time and hours vary by school site. Multiple campus locations offer flexibility and exciting variety in your workday.
