Educational Interpreter - Lehigh Acres, FL

An immediate opening exists for two Sign Language Interpreters to support hard of hearing students within a Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) program at an elementary school in Lehigh Acres, FL. This full-time contract position requires on-site presence to provide 1:1 interpretation services, facilitating effective communication and learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, 1:1 sign language interpretation to hard of hearing students.
• Support instructional staff and assist students in accessing the curriculum.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with educators and administrators.
• Adhere to all credentialing and compliance requirements, including fingerprinting and securing a JLA badge as applicable.
  
  

Qualifications

• EIPA score of at least 3.0 is required.
• Experience working with children in K-5 educational settings is preferred.
• Valid fingerprint clearance or ability to obtain necessary clearances through AHCA Clearinghouse.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a JLA badge.
• Strong communication skills and professional demeanor.
  
  

Work Details

• Location: Elementary school in Lehigh Acres, FL (Fort Myers area).
• Schedule: Full-time up to 37.5 hours per week.
• Contract duration: ASAP through June 1, 2026.
• On-site work only; remote work not available.
  
  

Compensation is commensurate with experience, ranging from $32 to $44 per hour based on years of relevant work in education.
