An opportunity is available for a Director of Inpatient Pharmacy Services to oversee and lead pharmacy operations in a hospital setting from early July through early November. This contract position requires a licensed Missouri pharmacist to take on the role of Pharmacist in Charge (PIC), managing staff and pharmacy functions while supporting high standards of patient care.
The role includes responsibility for 4.5 pharmacist and 6 technician FTEs, with oversight of a diverse inpatient specialty mix including orthopedics, oncology, cardiology, neurology, pediatrics (excluding PICU), OB (excluding NICU and high-risk pregnancies), adult behavioral health, and wound care services. The Director will manage daily operations Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, without an on-call requirement but remains a resource for staff questions.
Key responsibilities encompass creating schedules for pharmacists and technicians, collaborating with the pharmacy buyer on medication supply chain issues, managing the drug dictionary in Meditech Expanse, running the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee including agenda preparation and implementation of initiatives, and attending multiple medical staff committee meetings. Additional duties include ordering controlled substances twice weekly, managing payroll, overseeing Pyxis access, and running department meetings and daily huddles. There may be occasional sterile compounding duties if staffing necessitates.
This role offers the chance to contribute significantly during a Joint Commission survey window scheduled for fall 2026. Two weeks of onsite training will be provided prior to maternity leave to ensure a smooth transition.

Qualifications/Desired Experience
- Missouri pharmacist license required
- Medication Therapy Services certification
- Experience in inpatient pharmacy operations
- Familiarity with Meditech Expanse preferred
- Leadership experience in managing pharmacy staff and committees
