A unique opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to provide specialized educational support for elementary students. This contract position is located onsite in Pulaski, Wisconsin, serving a school environment focused on Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) education and American Sign Language instruction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction and support to elementary students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, adapting teaching methods as needed.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to integrate Deaf education strategies.
- Use American Sign Language and other communication tools to facilitate learning and student engagement throughout the day.
- Manage a caseload of diverse students, ensuring educational goals align with their unique needs.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and participate in team meetings.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of two years of post-secondary education equivalent to 48 semester hours from an accredited institution OR an associate degree or higher.
- Demonstrated ability to teach reading, writing, and mathematics or their readiness skills through a recognized academic assessment.
- Current Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Educational Interpreter License.
- Experience working with elementary-aged Deaf or Hard of Hearing students preferred.
- Strong knowledge of American Sign Language and Deaf culture.
