Position Summary
The Driver is responsible for safely transporting residents to appointments, errands, shopping, special events, and other scheduled outings. This role ensures resident safety, comfort, and a positive travel experience, while maintaining the community vehicle in clean and working condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive daily/weekly routes to transport residents to scheduled destinations.
- Assist residents in and out of the vehicle, including use of wheelchair lift and handling of mobility devices.
- Load/unload oxygen tanks and belongings; ensure safe transport and secure storage.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections (fuel, oil, fluids, lights, wipers, etc.) and coordinate necessary service or repairs.
- Keep the vehicle interior and exterior clean and well-maintained.
- Respond to emergencies following established safety protocols.
- Engage with residents in a friendly, respectful manner and report any health or safety concerns to management.
- Assist with community events and activities as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of experience operating a bus or large passenger vehicle.
- Prior experience working with older adults preferred.
- Clean driving record (verified before employment).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to safely operate and maintain passenger vehicles and related equipment.
- Good physical health verified by a health screening.
- Compassionate, patient, and respectful when working with older adults.
- Primarily driving and assisting residents; indoor/outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Must pass a criminal record clearance prior to employment.
Salary : $15 - $16
