Assistant Production Artist / Customer Service Representative
Location: In-person – 66 Okner Parkway, Livingston, NJ
Schedule: Full-time preferred; Monday–Wednesday (9:00 AM–5:00 PM)
Pay: Training period (approx. 160 hours) – $19/hr; After training – $21–$22/hr, with increases as independence, accuracy, and responsibilities grow

We are seeking a hybrid Assistant Production Artist / Customer Service Representative to support our Graphic Designer/Production Artist. This role is designed for someone who is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and excited about both the hands-on production side of the business and customer-facing responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities Printing (initial primary focus)
- Operate a large industrial Canon imagePRESS printer and a professional-grade OKI printer.
- Prepare and adjust print-ready files (imposition, gang-up, bleed, crop marks, etc.).
- Double-check orders for accuracy, including quantity, paper color, correct file usage, sizing, and overall quality before moving jobs forward.
- Perform color checks and ensure accurate color matching.
- Request paper stock and optimize sheet yield to minimize waste.
- Work with Adobe Acrobat for reviewing and prepping files.
- Communicate with the warehouse team regarding order flow and paper usage.
- Inspect and verify orders for accuracy before release.
- Communicate with customers on order status and requirements, in collaboration with the Lead Production Artist/Graphic Designer.
- Coordinate supplementary items such as foil plates, custom dies, and digital files, ensuring they are received on schedule.
- Manage print maintenance, including ordering parts, tracking shipments, and performing basic replacements.
Digital Cutting (Zund Machine)
- Test custom dielines and work with the Graphic Designer to make necessary adjustments.
- Create and prepare cut files using the GTK program (training provided).
- Perform machine maintenance, including knife changes, cutting mat replacement, and ordering parts.
- Keep all digital cut files organized and accessible.
- Manage digital cutter assistants/warehouse employees by setting up the machine for others to successfully run jobs.
- Prioritize orders effectively to ensure timely production and delivery.
Customer Service (phased in after production training)
- Answer phone calls and emails, providing order updates and assisting customers.
- Update invoices and ensure accurate project information.
- Create and price out custom projects, determining the best production methods for efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Optimize production planning to give customers the best value while protecting company margins.
- Flag and communicate order issues to customers promptly.
- Learn and use Miva Merchant (training provided) for order processing, label printing, and noting production details.
Reporting Structure
- Reports directly to the Printing Production Artist/Graphic Designer.
- Works closely with the production team to ensure smooth order flow.
- Growth into managing 1–2 warehouse employees as responsibilities expand.
Qualifications
- Experience with printing or production equipment preferred (training provided).
- Familiarity with Adobe Suite (Acrobat required; Illustrator/InDesign/Photoshop a plus).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy under deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills for working with team members and customers.
- Highly organized, with the ability to multitask without sacrificing quality or precision.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to adapt and learn new skills.
