Role Description
We are seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineer to join our team on-site at our Marion, IA location. The Mechanical Engineer leads the mechanical design, documentation, and support of both production and prototype product lines. This role will work closely with Operations and Program Management to ensure efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective manufacturing processes.
Major Responsibilities (in addition to the above)
- Leads conceptual mechanical design for new products with a focus on packaging and enclosures.
- Develops detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks (or similar CAD tools).
- Collaborates closely with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams from concept through production.
- Creates and maintains bills of materials (BOMs), engineering documentation, and quality/work instructions.
- Validates design specs, engineering change orders (ECOs), and part documentation.
- Solves environmental design challenges (e.g., thermal, EMI, vibration).
- Converts customer requirements into practical, manufacturable solutions.
- Manages multiple projects while ensuring deadlines, quality, and cost targets are met.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
Five or more years of mechanical product design experience across R&D and production.
- Strong knowledge of materials, fabrication techniques, and mechanical packaging of electronics.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar CAD tools) and related PLM/document control systems.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
