Job Description:
We are seeking a Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to support global initiatives focused on integrating laboratory instruments into our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). This is a newly created role designed to extend internal resources and accelerate the digitalization of laboratory workflows across multiple global sites.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience qualifying and deploying lab instrument-to-LIMS integrations in a regulated environment, with strong knowledge of middleware-driven integrations, computerized systems validation methodologies, and laboratory instrumentation. This position offers the opportunity to work with stakeholders across the US, Ireland, Singapore, and India, contributing to global digital transformation programs in laboratory operations.
Responsibilities:
- Author, review, and execute qualification protocols for instrument/LIMS integrations following Software Validation and Software Life Cycle (SLC) methodologies.
- Document and manage business requirements, workflows, data mappings, and integration steps for lab systems.
- Collaborate closely with laboratory personnel, IT, QA, and vendor teams to ensure compliant and effective integration solutions.
- Conduct functional and user acceptance testing (UAT), report findings, and oversee remediation as needed.
- Troubleshoot and investigate technical issues related to instrument connectivity and data transfer.
- Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, validation evidence, and compliance records.
- Support or lead change control, deviation, or CAPA activities associated with integrated lab systems.
- Provide training and guidance to laboratory users on new integrations and workflows.
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of proven experience in hands-on qualification/integration of laboratory instruments with LIMS in a regulated industry (pharma, biotech, or medical devices preferred).
- Skilled in authoring and executing qualification protocols, including requirements specification and testing.
- Strong knowledge of middleware platforms, with Cytara DLS as a focus.
- Working knowledge of common laboratory instruments (balances, pH meters, FTIRs, standalone systems).
- Experience with LIMS platforms; Thermo Fisher Sample Manager LIMS experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with LabX and Empower (strong nice-to-haves, future focus areas).
- Understanding of regulatory data integrity requirements such as 21 CFR Part 11 and GxP.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills; able to liaise effectively with global stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and analytical abilities with the capacity to work independently or in cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree not required.
Preferred Background:
- Prior experience with AbbVie or similar pharma companies (nice-to-have, not required).
- Exposure to enterprise-level or global integration projects.
- Direct experience with Laboratory Execution Systems (LES) and digital transformation of lab environments.
