Job Summary
The Mail Clerk supports Agile Dream Team’s daily mailroom and courier operations by handling the pickup, sorting, processing, and delivery of incoming and outgoing correspondence. This role ensures timely mail distribution, accurate recordkeeping, and secure handling of materials while maintaining a high level of reliability and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Perform mailroom operations, including sorting, processing, and delivery of internal and external correspondence.
- Operate and maintain an electronic postage metering system, ensuring accurate readings and records at the end of each workday.
- Collect, log, and distribute packages, certified mail, and interoffice documents in accordance with established procedures.
- Ensure all mail and packages are handled with confidentiality, accuracy, and care.
- Maintain logs and records for mail tracking, postage usage, and delivery verification.
- Identify and report any discrepancies, delays, or equipment issues to the supervisor promptly.
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and safety of the mailroom area.
- Support special delivery or courier needs as required by departments.
Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience: Entry-level position requiring at least 1 year of experience in a mailroom or related logistics environment.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with postage metering systems, mail tracking procedures, and basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
- Residency: Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Washington D.C. (on-site position).
- Soft Skills: Dependable, detail-oriented, and organized; strong time management and customer service mindset.
