Retail Sales Associate/Key Holder

Soft As A Grape, a well-known tradition on Cape Cod & official licensee of MLB apparel, was established in 1972. We currently operate 14 retail locations throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine and have over 1000 wholesale accounts nationwide. Position Summary:

The Retail Sales Associate/Keyholder supports the daily operations of the store by delivering excellent customer service, driving sales, and maintaining visual and operational standards. This role involves assisting customers, promoting products, processing transactions, and ensuring a smooth and enjoyable retail experience.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

• Greeting customers warmly and engage them in a friendly and professional manner
• Identify customer needs and provide knowledgeable product recommendations
• Assist customers with sizing, product availability, and general inquiries
• Resolve customer issues or refer complex concerns to management

Sales & Product Knowledge

• Promote and sell merchandise to achieve individual and store sales goals
• Stay up to date on product features, brand information, and current promotions
• Upsell and cross-sell products to enhance customer shopping experience
• Participate in meeting daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets

Store Operations

• Open and close the store according to company procedures
• Safeguard store keys, alarm codes, and access points
• Operate the POS system to process purchases, returns, and exchanges accurately
• Maintain, clean and organize sales floor, fitting rooms, and stock areas
• Replenish merchandise and support restocking, tagging, and price changes
• Assist with inventory counts and help prevent loss through awareness and care

Cash Handling & Security

• Count and balance cash drawers accurately
• Prepare bank deposits and complete end-of-day reports
• Monitor for theft, fraud and safety concerns
• Ensure secure handling of cash and confidential information

Visual Merchandising

• Support the setup and maintenance of product displays and promotional signage
• Ensure merchandise is presented according to company standards

Team Collaboration

• Work effectively with coworkers and management to achieve store objectives
• Support training of new team members when needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous retail or customer service experience is a plus
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
• Basic math and computer skills
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs, depending on store needs
• Fluent in English
