We are in need of a caring, energetic person to serve as a Community Support Representative at our St. Vincent Center. The St. Vincent Center (SVC) is a Hub of Collaboration and Services for neighbors that live in Lancaster, Texas, and the surrounding communities. The center provides neighbors with a location to receive emergency assistance as well as access to aid that will address core employment and health needs.
Job Description
Title: Community Support Representative
Category: Part time – up to 20 hours/week, nonexempt
Reporting: This position reports directly to the Director of Community Services
Job Summary
Consistently modeling the mission and values of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, the Community Support Representative provides quality, compassionate service to our neighbors who visit the St. Vincent Center seeking assistance. Additionally, responsibility includes sorting and valuing donations while ensuring compliance with safety protocols and maintaining a clean work environment.
- Donation Sorting
- Efficiently sort and evaluate donations, placing them appropriately in designated bins.
- Adhere strictly to safety procedures; maintain a clean work area and report any unsafe conditions promptly.
- Identify items that cannot be distributed and ensure their proper disposal.
- Maintain fair market value records of all donations. Find and record the fair market value of donations when no value is provided upon donation.
- Customer Service
- Welcome and greet neighbors seeking assistance, fostering an atmosphere of respect and dignity.
- Conduct eligibility intakes by assembling pertinent information, ensuring accurate record-keeping for all cases.
- Guide neighbors in locating community services and resources, as needed.
- Adhere to organizational policies and procedures in all interactions with Neighbors.
- Assist in collecting, recording, and reporting center data as required.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Required Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
- Strong communication skills with an emphasis on teamwork.
- Proficient computer skills, including web browsing and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
- A commitment to serving our neighbors and advancing the mission of SVDP.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is strongly desired.
- Ability to thrive under pressure while engaging effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds in a faith-based environment.
- Ability to pass background check and maintain safe environment clearance.
Physical Requirements:
- Must possess the ability to stand and/or sit for 4 hours per day, with considerable walking, bending, squatting, and both pulling and pushing motions.
- Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds when necessary.
