About the Role |

Social Design Studio is seeking a Mid-Level Interior Designer/Project Manager to join our team and contribute to the design and execution of thoughtful, boutique hospitality environments, including restaurants, salons, and hotels.

Working directly with the Principal, this role supports projects from initial concept through construction documentation, procurement coordination, and final installation. The Interior Designer/Project Manager will contribute to both design development and technical execution, with the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility over time. This role is ideal for someone who values mentorship and is motivated to grow into a Senior Designer position.

This position offers the opportunity to be involved in all phases of design within a collaborative studio environment, gaining exposure to client interaction, construction processes, and high-level design decision-making.

Design Team Collaboration

  • Support the development of design concepts from schematic through final execution
  • Collaborate with the Principal on design direction, material selections, and overall project vision
  • Assist in preparing and presenting design concepts, including material palettes, drawings, and presentations
  • Maintain consistency of design intent across all phases of the project
  • Work collaboratively with internal team members to move projects forward efficiently

Technical Leadership Construction Execution

  • Lead QA/QC of Interior CD sets to ensure accuracy, completeness, and coordination across disciplines
  • Produce and oversee construction documentation at a high level of technical rigor
  • Provide full Construction Administration support, including RFIs, submittals, field reports, and consultant coordination
  • Demonstrate strong on-site construction knowledge, with the ability to walk job sites, identify issues, and drive solutions
  • Lead communication with the construction team, taking full ownership of responses, decisions, and follow-through

We are seeking a motivated professional who thrives in a high-performance studio environment and takes pride in delivering thoughtful, well-executed work. The ideal candidate brings 4 years of professional experience (post-graduate) within a design studio, with a strong background in hospitality design and a proven ability to independently lead projects from concept through construction.

REQUIREMENTS |

  • Professional Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design
  • 4–7 years of professional experience (post-graduate) within an interior design studio
  • Experience contributing to projects from concept through construction
  • High Level of proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe InDesign, and Photoshop
  • Experience producing construction document sets and design presentations
  • Understanding of the full interior design process, from concept through installation
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
  • Strong design sensibility with attention to proportion, materiality, and detail
  • Experience with Enscape or Revit is a plus

RESPONSIBILITIES |

  • Support all phases of the design process, from concept development through construction administration and final installation
  • Assist in developing and executing design concepts in alignment with the Principal’s vision
  • Prepare presentations, drawings, and material selections for client reviewProduce and coordinate construction documentation setsParticipate in QA/QC of project documentation
  • Support Construction Administration, including RFIs, submittals, and site visitsSource and specify finishes, furnishings, lighting, and accessoriesCoordinate with vendors and manufacturers to obtain pricing and samples
  • Assist in developing Sketchup 3D models and renderingsMaintain organized project files and documentation
  • Maintain organized project files, documentation, and materials libraries
  • Travel as required for site visits, installations, and key project milestones (local and national)
