About The Role
The Creative Intern, LA is responsible for providing national administrative support for the Membership Creative team that has a primary focus on the recruitment and retention of SOCAN members. This is a highly administrative role that will require you to assist in report writing, member advances, database, and guest-list management along with proactive research on Canadian music creators and publishers.

About The Role
The Creative Intern, LA is responsible for providing national administrative support for the Membership Creative team that has a primary focus on the recruitment and retention of SOCAN members. This is a highly administrative role that will require you to assist in report writing, member advances, database, and guest-list management along with proactive research on Canadian music creators and publishers.
What You’ll Do / Key Responsibilities
- Support SOCAN Creative Executives in LA in day-to-day management of the new SOCAN LA Office, SOCAN House and Studio (including booking support and follow-up with members)
- Event Support (multiple high-profile events planned for 2026)
- Assisting and supporting day of for events/workshops and song camps.
- Assistance with registration and setting up SOCAN branding and merch at various SOCAN-hosted events.
- Assist with planning and execution of SOCAN No 1 Award Presentation lunches/dinners – booking, scheduling these into calendar. Member Relations & Networking (high-earning and high-profile member support)
- Accompanying Creative Executives in LA to member meetings, shows or industry events around LA . Keep track of SOCAN member shows/events happening in LA and adding to schedule Creative Support (major market for Canadian export)
- Lead “online” recruitment research of Spotify, Apple Music, blogs, YouTube, Soundcloud, and other music platforms, with focus on Canadian songwriters, producers, artists, composers in LA/US market
- Admin tasks such as data entry, spreadsheet management, and basic email communications
- Currently enrolled in post secondary education
- Available to work 35 hours a week, May through August
- Ability to manage workload effectively including planning, organizing, prioritizing and meeting deadlines
- Strong communication (both written and verbal) skills
- Dynamic, energetic, and self-motivated
- Excellent research skills and ability to identify useful information
- Proactive worker with a curiosity to seek out new information
- Experience with the MS suite of tools (Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Entrepreneurial spirit
- Knowledge and interest in working in the Music Industry
