Summary of Position
Lead the administration of all Human Resources functions and activities for the organization, including but not limited to, employee relations, payroll, and benefits administration. Develop, implement, and monitor HR strategies, systems, tactics, and procedures, recommending new approaches to effect continual improvements. Interpret and consistently apply HR policies to ensure legal compliance with HR regulations. Oversee the full life cycle of the staffing process. Advise and collaborate with senior management regarding HR‑related strategy items and employee matters.
Essential Functions
- Oversee the Recruiter position and the staffing process, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding, in addition to seasonal staffing for our Self-Performing Division.
- Administer employee benefit plans and 401(k) plan, including open enrollment, compliance, and billing, working closely with third-party vendor.
- Process payroll and manage payroll compliance through a third-party vendor.
- Maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resources policies and procedures.
- Revise the employee handbook annually, or as required, and communicate updates to employees.
- Administer the Performance Evaluation process to drive high performance. Assess employee training needs and support training opportunities as they arise.
- Partners with direct manager to support and contribute to the Leadership in Training (LIT) program.
- Assist the leadership team with employee relations issues and corrective action. Investigate employee issues and conflicts and bring them to resolution.
- Ensure job descriptions are up to date and compliant with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct annual stay interviews with staff to keep a pulse on employee retention. Nurture a positive working environment, creating and promoting ways to boost employee relations.
- Perform exit interviews and manage all unemployment claims.
- Administer and oversee Worker’s Compensation.
- Continually monitor federal and state employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Serve as the bridge between management and employee by building strong relationships, being supportive to all parties.
- Maintain content and confidentiality of employee personnel files.
- Participate in administrative staff meetings; attend other meetings with business partners.
- Perform administrative, clerical or any other task or assignment to support the company’s initiatives.
- Cross-train on functions and tasks in other departments outside of Human Resources as needed.
Knowledge and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field is required. Master’s Degree is strongly preferred. PHR, SPHR, or SHRM Certification is preferred.
- 10 years of progressive Human Resources experience in several functions of HR.
- 7 years of supervisory experience in Human Resources.
- Experience creating, implementing, and managing organizational goals and initiatives, including leading other managers as they lead their employees.
- Experience creating and administering policies and procedures, including Employee Handbooks.
- Proficiency with Excel (specifically working with formulas and data sorting and analysis).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and navigating various software applications.
- Problem solving skills, including quick and solid follow-through focused on achieving results.
- Customer-focused; positive demeanor. The ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a wide audience (internal and external) while providing thoughtful resolutions to customer issues and communicating these issues with management and others appropriately.
- Very strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
- Ability to work independently or in a group setting.
- Flexibility in schedule is vital, particularly during peak times.

Work Environment/Physical Demands
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printer/copiers.
- While mainly a sedentary role, the position requires the ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, ascend/descend stairs, and walk for various lengths of time throughout the day.
- The ability to lift 25 pounds if needed.
