Printer Technician (HP & Canon Focus) – Boston, MA
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Printer Technician to support clients throughout the Boston, MA area. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of office printing and copying equipment, with a strong emphasis on HP and Canon devices.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience servicing multifunction printers (MFPs), copiers, and networked print environments, and thrive in a field-based, client-facing role.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair HP and Canon printers, copiers, and multifunction devices
- Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning, parts replacement, and firmware updates
- Install, configure, and network printers in both Windows and Mac environments
- Respond to on-site service calls and provide timely, high-quality customer support
- Maintain accurate service records, including work performed, parts used, and time tracking
- Educate end users on proper device usage and basic troubleshooting
- Manage parts inventory and ensure proper stock levels for service calls
- Collaborate with internal teams to escalate complex technical issues when necessary
Qualifications
- Required:
- Proven experience servicing HP and/or Canon printers and copiers
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Experience working with networked print environments (TCP/IP, print servers, drivers)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally throughout the Boston area
- Highly Desired:
- Manufacturer certifications (HP and/or Canon)
- Experience with multifunction devices (scan, fax, copy integration)
- Prior field service experience in a customer-facing role
Technical Skills
- Printer hardware repair (rollers, fusers, imaging units, etc.)
- Firmware updates and device configuration
- Print driver installation and troubleshooting
- Basic networking knowledge (IP addressing, connectivity issues)
- Familiarity with service management/ticketing systems
Soft Skills
