Position Overview
A well-established mechanical construction and industrial services organization is seeking a Senior Mechanical Estimator to support high-profile commercial and industrial projects from conceptual budgeting through project turnover. This role plays a key part in bid strategy, value engineering, cost analysis, and coordination between estimating and operations teams.
The ideal candidate will bring strong mechanical estimating experience, leadership capabilities, and the ability to support complex projects in a fast-paced construction environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead detailed mechanical and HVAC estimates for commercial and industrial construction projects
- Review drawings, specifications, and project documents to identify scope and potential gaps
- Perform material, labor, and equipment takeoffs
- Coordinate vendor and subcontractor pricing while qualifying scope coverage
- Develop conceptual budgets, trend pricing, and detailed bid proposals
- Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving solutions
- Support bid strategy, estimate reviews, and proposal development
- Collaborate closely with operations teams during project turnover
- Assist with mentorship and training of junior estimators
- Evaluate historical cost data and maintain pricing databases
- Participate in site walks, pre-bid meetings, and client coordination discussions
- Prepare clarifications, exclusions, and supporting bid documentation
Qualifications
- 10 years of relevant mechanical estimating or preconstruction experience
- Experience supporting commercial, industrial, mechanical, HVAC, piping, or process construction projects
- Strong understanding of construction workflows, scheduling, procurement, and field operations
- Ability to review specifications, drawings, and construction documents in detail
- Experience coordinating with subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and operations teams
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency with estimating and construction software platforms such as Bluebeam, Trimble, B2W, HeavyBid, AutoBid, or similar tools
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred
- Mechanical engineering or construction-related education preferred but not required

Salary : $96,000 - $120,000
