Chemical Plant Operators oversee the entire production process of a given unit and manage the equipment within their area. The goal is to ensure that the production process runs safely and smoothly and that the plant produces quality results.
The plant operates 24/7, so a willingness to work shifts, long hours, and weekends (on rotation) will be expected during busy periods. This role reports directly to the Shift Supervisor.

LOCATION: Cambridge, OH
Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot equipment.
- Transfer chemicals safely and follow procedures to produce products in the mix tanks and pressure reactors.
- Ensure that potential safety and environmental issues related to the processes are considered at all startup stages, shutdowns, emergencies (emergency shutdown), and continuous equipment operations.
- Identify and understand the properties and hazards of chemicals.
- Operate forklift and conduct forklift inspections.
- Record or log information and data accurately, such as charge amounts and test results.
- Complete all process checks.
- Operating and adjusting process parameters to ensure product quality.
- Understand and follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Knows and understands the dangers of equipment, processes chemicals, and operates equipment safely and efficiently.
- Coordinates and schedules maintenance shutdown.
- Loading and unloading pallets/totes of materials from the warehouse to the storage or the plant.
- Support bulk loading and unloading of chemicals throughout the shift.
- Participate and attend all safety and environmental training classes.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or equivalent - Required
- A valid driver's license.
- Proven hands-on chemical plant experience. Experience loading/unloading bulk liquid trucks/railcars is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with industry-standard equipment and technical expertise working in both manual and automated batch processing plants is strongly preferred.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask; must be a quick learner, able to adapt to change.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication and comfortably communicated across departments.
- Basic computer skills, including email, MS Word, and Excel.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to do physical inspections (i.e., climbing, reaching, extending).
- Ability to lift 55 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to work in an environment that has extreme temperatures and humidity.
- Physically able to lift 60 pounds continuously throughout the shift.
- Forklift Certified.
