Come take the next step in growing your career with us!We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to join the Coating Division as an Assistant Coater/Machine Operator supporting our Chicago facility. Every day we bring our customers’ labels and packaging to life, creating a customer experience that is second to none, and enabling them to stand out over the competition. Imagine walking through stores and seeing our labels on your favorite products and brands! Shift Available: Monday-Thursday, 2pm-12am Key Responsibilities include:Assisting with equipment setup, changeovers, and production runsMonitoring process parameters, including coat weight, line speed, temperature, and viscosityPerforming quality checks and documenting production dataHandling raw materials, preparing coating, and managing inventoryWorking safely with high quality output; abiding by and promoting established safety policies and procedures, identifying and following up on unsafe conditions The ideal candidate must demonstrate:Ability to read work orders, specifications, and quality standardsMechanical aptitude and basic math skillsStrong attention to detail, ownership in workplace cleanliness, and commitment to safetyCommunication and collaboration skills to effectively work with a diverse group of people Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods; fork truck operation Skills & ExperienceRequired: High school education/GED Required: 1-3 years’ related experience in manufacturingRequired: Must be open to off schedule/weekend shifts and overtime as neededPreferred: Web coating, laminating, or print experience; adhesive and/or chemical handling familiarity; A Plus: Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and BRC/ ISO quality systems; forklift certification Why You’ll Love Working at SmythAt Smyth, you’re more than your job title — you're a valued member of a supportive and forward-thinking team.
