Compensation

Pay Rate (W2): $81.00 – $86.00 per hour

Position Overview

SMX Services & Consulting, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior SAP ERP Consultant to support the Department of Justice – Federal Prison Industries (UNICOR).

This role requires senior-level expertise across multiple SAP modules, with responsibilities spanning system configuration, upgrades, testing, and business process optimization within a secure corrections environment.

The ideal candidate will serve as a hands-on Subject Matter Expert (SME), working both independently and collaboratively with government stakeholders to ensure system stability, performance, and effective knowledge transfer to federal staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level SAP ERP support across modules, including:
• Production Planning (PP)
• Sales & Distribution (SD)
• Materials Management (MM)
• Payroll
• Financials (FI/GL)
• Analyze and support existing SAP configurations within FPI systems
• Assist with system upgrades, patches, and configuration enhancements
• Support testing efforts, including regression and validation testing
• Manage and support third-party integrations and interfaces
• Ensure SAP configurations comply with corrections and security requirements
• Document system configurations, processes, and changes
• Deliver structured knowledge transfer to government personnel
• Provide advisory support to the Chief of ERP

Required Qualifications

• Deep expertise in SAP ERP functional modules (PP, SD, MM, FI/GL, Payroll)
• Strong experience with SAP configuration and customization
• Proven experience supporting SAP upgrades, patching, and transport management
• Experience integrating SAP with third-party systems
• Strong understanding of business process mapping and optimization
• Experience with SAP testing methodologies (unit, integration, regression)
• Ability to operate effectively in secure or highly regulated environments
• Excellent documentation and knowledge transfer skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities

Education

Bachelor’s degree in:

• Information Technology
• Computer Science
• Business Information Systems
• Or a related field

Preferred Certifications

• SAP Certified Application Associate (any relevant module)
• SAP S/4HANA Certification
• PMP (Project Management Professional)
• ITIL Foundation or higher

Experience Requirements

• 10 years of SAP ERP experience
• Demonstrated experience across multiple SAP functional modules
• Proven experience with:
• SAP configuration and enhancements
• System upgrades and patch cycles
• Enterprise-level ERP environments
• Experience supporting government, regulated, or secure environments preferred

Work Environment

• Location: Washington, DC (Onsite)
• Environment: Federal corrections system (UNICOR)
• Eligibility: Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to work in a secure government environment
