The Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a Maintenance Trainee at our Harrison AR folding carton facility. The Individual will be responsible for safely providing maintenance support to our facility. Qualified candidates will utilize both mechanical and electrical skills and knowledge using cutting torches, grinders, drill presses, hammer drills, braze metals, work on air line systems, and understand pneumatic systems in our continuous process manufacturing environment to achieve machine uptime metrics. Candidates will work positively with maintenance, electricians, and operations teams to troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing constraints as well as being engaged in the preventative maintenance processes.

How You Will Impact Smurfit WestRock
- Effectively and efficiently work with various computer applications to maintain records and trouble shoot systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems, conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, motors, gearboxes, bearings, and drive lines.
- Basic motor control troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance.
- Basic electrical experience (low voltage to 480V). Must be able to find a bad fuse.
- Read electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Operate standard shop equipment (cutting torch, grinder, drill press, hammer drill).
- Electrical experience (Machine controls wiring) (preferred).
- Ability to read Machine electrical and mechanical prints.
- Able to efficiently troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues.
- PLC and VFD Experience.
- Relay Logic Experience.
- Some Construction Experience.
- Computer literate and able to be effective and efficient with various computer applications.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to effectively work within a team environment.
- Able to lift to 50 pounds.
- Willing and able to work varying shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime, as needed.
- Must be willing to work on the maintenance ON Call rotation. (Starts on a Friday and goes on to next Friday, Nights and Weekends)
- Must participate in safety programs and activities.
- Position may require attending/passing of maintenance classes as needed/required.
