Specialty Medical Products of Alabama is seeking an experienced, patient-focused Pharmacy Manager to provide clinical and operational leadership at our Alabama medical cannabis dispensing site. This position combines pharmacist expertise with hands-on management of staff, patient service, inventory, records, security, and daily dispensing operations.

Primary Responsibilities
Lead daily dispensing-site operations, including opening, closing, staffing, workflow, and service standards
Supervise, train, schedule, coach, and evaluate dispensary employees
Oversee and sign off on medical cannabis sales when serving as the Certified Dispenser on duty
Confirm patient or caregiver eligibility and ensure each transaction follows the physician certification and applicable purchasing limits
Provide approved education on product administration, potential side effects, and potential drug interactions within the scope permitted by AMCC rules
Refer patients or caregivers to the certifying physician when questions involve product safety, effectiveness, dosage, or changes to the physician's recommendation
Oversee inventory receiving, secure storage, counts, reconciliation, transfers, and discrepancy reporting
Monitor point-of-sale activity, cash handling, deposits, refunds, and daily reconciliation
Ensure required information is entered accurately in the patient registry and statewide seed-to-sale tracking system
Maintain complete operational, sales, inventory, training, personnel, and compliance records
Enforce security, privacy, access-control, sanitation, and product-handling procedures
Prepare for inspections and promptly report compliance, security, inventory, or diversion concerns
Partner with Compliance, Operations, Human Resources, and senior management
Required Qualifications
Active Alabama pharmacist license in good standing
PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited program
Management, supervisory, or pharmacist-in-charge experience strongly preferred
Strong clinical judgment, leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Experience with inventory systems, point-of-sale systems, cash controls, scheduling, and reporting
Ability to protect confidential information and work effectively in a highly regulated environment
Dependable attendance and availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Medical cannabis experience preferred, but not required
AMCC Requirements for This Role
AMCC regulates the dispensing-supervision function as the Certified Dispenser role. The Pharmacy Manager selected for this position must qualify and be approved to perform that function.
Serve as a managing employee responsible for overseeing medical cannabis dispensing
Have at least two years of education or experience in an accepted field; pharmacy and pharmaceuticals are specifically included
Complete and pass the AMCC-required Medical Cannabis Foundations training before beginning work in the Certified Dispenser role
Complete at least 10 hours of AMCC-approved continuing education each year, in addition to general employee training requirements
Be on duty while the dispensing site is open when assigned as the Certified Dispenser
Oversee and sign off on all medical cannabis sales for which the manager is the responsible Certified Dispenser
Complete required background screening and all other applicable employee eligibility and training requirements
