Process Engineer – Injection Molding

SMP Automotive Systems Alabama is a leading supplier of innovative automotive interior and exterior systems. As part of the Motherson Group, we support some of the world's largest automotive manufacturers through advanced manufacturing, technology, and a commitment to operational excellence.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Process Engineer – Injection Molding to join our Engineering team.
What You'll Do
As a Process Engineer, you will serve as the technical expert for injection molding operations, driving process improvements, supporting new product launches, and ensuring stable, efficient production.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and optimizing injection molding processes.
- Troubleshooting molding and quality issues.
- Supporting APQP and launch activities.
- Reducing scrap, downtime, and cycle times.
- Leading continuous improvement initiatives.
- Supporting mold trials and engineering changes.
- Working closely with Production, Quality, Tooling, and Maintenance teams.
- Training and mentoring Process Technicians and production personnel.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
- 3 years of injection molding experience.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in automotive manufacturing preferred.
- Knowledge of APQP, PFMEA, PPAP, and Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Scientific molding experience preferred.
- RJG certification is a plus.
